It is hard to believe another year has passed by already.  What would you like to see from the BugNET application in 2012?

Re: What would you like to see from BugNET in 2012?

Hi, a plug-in system -- or maybe all I need is documentation on how to add another tab at the top. Ideally though, any additions by me should survive updates from you / bugnetproject.
I think plug-ins will allow others to add cool features. I could see someone adding burn-down charts, I will add a time-sheet calendar (already done, but not behind the login screen, which is where it needs to be). You could add a repository of useful add-ons on the bugnetproject website.
Happy New Year!

Re: What would you like to see from BugNET in 2012?

Ability to remove unnecessary fields from the IssueDetail page (milestone, assigned to, owned by, affected milestone, etc), and add new custom fields.

A warning when leaving the IssueDetail page while there are unsaved changes. Sometimes I forget to click the "Add Comment" button and I just click the "Save" button at the top of the page, which means I lose all my typed text.

Enhance the report system, ability to see a summary report of the various categories.

Thanks for all you do- Bugnet is truly one useful system.

1. Fixed on Attach file grows despite faulty configuration file storage
2. Divided into 02 columns in the login page for a list of projects our company has 100 or more, the project while longer than if divided into 02 columns will be great and shorter
3. For the Lead of the project or the Administrator of BugNET can see the synthesis of new Issues for projects that can be assigned to personnel
4. Use color for the icon would rather Issues for programmers, project managers are more distinctive than
5. Additional Group and in the Roadmap or Change log will be monitored according to group Group which can be used to replace the module under Group management projects such as MS Project will make the user experience and project management is much
6. There may be a number of the staff report, estimate, group to ensure the efficient synthesis of human resources and enable better planning

Thks ^^ (In my company have 100 Projects and 7.000 Issues)

To have an "ADD AS COPY" fuction to insert a new issue that is a copy of data taken from one previous saved issue.

An email can be sent to assignee from person's email address who is changing assignee. This will be really good to send email from developer who is changing status or assignee in the bug rather then one configured ID in SMTP settings. Like in other bug reporting tools.

A project documentation tab, ability to add overall documentation/comments to a project. Some of our projects may have several key documents or comments that can assit a new developer understand current issues or problems or overall workings of the projects. A central place to save these comments would be beneficial.

Re: What would you like to see from BugNET in 2012?

Ability to send/attach additional emails into existing issue, including attachments. This would greatly help catch additional communications with users. Especially, if multiple people are involved with an issue over time.

Ability to notify by email a person who assigned to issue, when come issue sheduled fix date (due date) and before some days to this date.

Re: What would you like to see from BugNET in 2012?

All the suggestions posted here are very good. Additional ideas (previously report or not):
- Port to mono to allow both Windows and Linux deployment;
- Database agnostic;
- Better support for SVN;
- Git support;
- Make the project more funkier with funq (funq.codeplex.com/);
- A more complete API (REST support or even moving to ServiceStack.Net).

Re: What would you like to see from BugNET in 2012?

Agree with Rui -- all interesting options above. My additions:

* Search improvements suggested in BGN-1551
* Email conglomeration option as suggested in BGN-2030
* Breadcrumb improvements suggested in BGN-1556
* Add my vote to Rui's for better SVN support (I'd love to be able to associate issues with commits, review the commit log, see commits related to the issue, and maybe even examine commits right alongside the issue)
* Ability to further customize/add item status colors and milestone icons

But even without those, BugNET is still an awesome piece of software that I love using!

Re: What would you like to see from BugNET in 2012?

Here are a bunch of random thoughts I have had:

Some drag and drop for task management, some dashboards. I have liked some of the features at www.codespaces.com/ which I assume many would be relatively easy to tie up.

A designation that QA items area not in the Dev's queue but are not yet marked complete.

An excel import for bulk tasks. (Handy when starting up a large project with many tasks).

A better manager view to see what's assigned to whom across all the projects.

A calendar view that shows when a task had a status changed. So on tuesday I would see 12 tasks moved to qa and 4 marked completed etc. Maybe arshaw.com/fullcalendar/

Ability to create a task via email.

Ability to reply to a task email which adds message.

** Pasting an image from clipboard via Chrome.

Re: What would you like to see from BugNET in 2012?

I would like to see the following things:
- the possibility to show (as a choice) issue status also in text instead of coloured circles
- batch update on selected issues
- abillity to relate/link duplicate issues to each other
- abillity to create sub-issues

Re: What would you like to see from BugNET in 2012?

This one would be huge. (might be a request already but though I would throw it in the hat in case)

We currently have projects for internal devs, and then other projects that we make (for the same product) but for customer's to add tasks / request.

If we added the idea of "Customers" to a project and then under security roles had the option to say "All Tasks" or "Tasks for the following Customer" then a radio button list of customers.

Then on a task, I get a drop down of customers / none to assign the task to if I want. When a user signs in where their role has a customer assigned, they only see tasks marked to theirs, and if they add a task it gets auto set to their customer.

Now I can have one master project for the product, manage the customer request / bugs in there and not have to replicate to the dev's project and keep in sync.

Also it would be nice to have the Customer selection as an option for email, so that I can have the customer email issues in and have them automatically get added under that customer.

Jeremy Said

"A warning when leaving the IssueDetail page while there are unsaved changes. Sometimes I forget to click the "Add Comment" button and I just click the "Save" button at the top of the page, which means I lose all my typed text."

YES PLEASE GOD. I have had so many people all of a sudden yell in the office because they lost a short story in the comments because they hit save or did the random backspace of death.

Re: What would you like to see from BugNET in 2012?

- Please add back in some type of issue search other than the advanced search. Previous version had the ability to search by category, milestone, etc. On a large project is becomes nearly impossible to find old tickets.

Great product! Thanks for your work.

Re: What would you like to see from BugNET in 2012?

Hi,

I like the way you collect user ideas here. Thanks for the possibility.

Project Templates:

What is really missing for me is a Project Template system. It is usually the same or very similar process to add a new project to BugNET. I have to create the same Categories, Priorities, Custom fields, etc. every time I add a new one. As I have smaller projects as well, I have to create a new project 3-4 times a month. Adding a new project by selecting a template (or selecting an exisiting project as a template!!) would boost my productivity very much.

Total row (sum of a given column) for queries:

Also, it would be nice add custom rows to queries. I use custom fields to store the price for a given task and I query for the Invoiceable status of the tasks. It would be nice to add a new row at the bottom with price summary. I do not know how it could be done - just an idea.

Thanks,

Re: What would you like to see from BugNET in 2012?

This is a great, fast and nice to work with piece of software, do keep up the good work in 2012 !!

What I am missing is some sort of reporting or ticketlist with a summary of details.

If I need to get an overview of what bugs are still open with full details in a report (PFD), I have to use external tools to write reports. I would like to see an option on the ticketlist screen that would allow me to see my filtered list including the descriptions and comments etc... of a ticket and export that to html or WORD. This allows me to present an overview to people you don't have access to the BugNet system.

Another great feature and timesaver would be the support to copy-paste bitmaps directly in the HTML description or comment. When we find a bug it is usaualy demonstrated with some screenpictures and some comments. Now we have so save and attache each screenshot.
Writing a description or comment like in OneNote or Outlook Mail message that can include inline pictures would be super.

Drag and drop support for other attachements. Inline attachments would be great so you could describe some issue and in the line below include the file where you are talking about instead of setting the name or the link of an attached file.

Re: What would you like to see from BugNET in 2012?

Hi,

In my previous post I complained about project templates. Just have realized that I have a Clone Project on the Project List page, which absolutely fits my needs, so please ignore this point.

But I keep my idea for extending the Queries feature with some aggregate columns or summary rows.

Thank you and sorry for my failure.

Re: What would you like to see from BugNET in 2012?

Hi,

Good job, great work, thank you.

I have a problem with making your software integrated with my other membership provider.
For 2012, What about making possible to have an interchangeable membership/role provider?

Arash

Re: What would you like to see from BugNET in 2012?

Something between My Issues and Queries would be great. This would be list of items that I should be working on now in order of priority.

Suggestion:
Make the following changes My Issues screen:
1. All user to close the statistics (it takes up too much screen real estate)
2. Add a few extra filter criteria...in particular milestone so I only see items due for the current version. Could use a collapsible 'filter' area similar to the add/remove columns feature.
3. Allow saving (in cookie or better, database) of the filter, sorting, number of rows displayed etc.

Re: What would you like to see from BugNET in 2012?

The ability to remove fields based on the issues current status.

The ability to change the assignee of the issue automatically based on the issue status
(Item moveing from "Open" to "Testing" gets assign to the testing person)

(Relates to above) Allow jobs to be assigned to a group of people instead of a particular user.

(This might exist) A dll so you can integrate bugnet into a normal website for a better reporting experience for end users. This having an example portal site would be good with simple submission of bugs.

Keep up the good work this is an amazing bit of work :)

Thanks a lot!

One of the best features in my opinion could be "Allow saving of the filter, sorting, number rows and etc." which Phil also pointed.

Re: What would you like to see from BugNET in 2012?

Def would LOVE to see mandatory fields (as someone has already suggested) and also default values - which never made it into the last release. It's a real pain to have to keep completing the same fields, when some of them will remain the same.
