[Active Directory]Automatically create user account doesn't work
Modified By ThArGos on 4/10/2008 8:59:20 AM)

Hi,

I've just installed bugnet and set up the Active Directory Authentication. The website recognizes users.

But new users don't have their account created. I mean, when I check the user list, it doesn't grow with new users automatically.

I can't figure what I've missed. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance!

[EDIT] to provide more information, i followed the instructions located here :

http://bugnetproject.com/Documentation/tabid/57/topic/Installation/Default.aspx#_windows_auth

it is said :

"To enable seamless creation of users from Active Directory or Windows SAM when they visit the application then you will need to perform these additional steps."

Does this really mean accounts are created automatically with AD, or am I wrong?

Thanks

[/EDIT]

When windows authentication is enabled for the website it will look up the username in the active directory and populate their user info from there.

I understand.

Well, is there a way to attribute roles, without creating every users?

or at least, can we change the default user level? For exemple, every unregistered user is a reporter.

I'll have a look at the database...

Roles can be assigned manually or you can set the role to autoassign which will add all users that register to the role.

Ok! Thanks for the tips, it is really useful.

Nonetheless, there is still one point I don't get.

On this post (maybe it's not the case anymore) bugnetproject.com/Forums/tabid/54/forumid/1/threadid/726/scope/posts/Default.aspx
You say that we can feed the database by asking people to connect to the website (with AD enabled).

Well, is it still the case? Because we can't manage to have this behavior with our website. AD is enabled, but the database doesn't seem to grow with each new connection.

Thank you very much for your patience.
