Is anyone else going insane with the new Milestone re-order mechanism in 0.8 R2? We have over 100 milestones on our list. When I add a new one it goes at the bottom and then I have to click on the up arrow (100+ times) to get it to the top.

At the very least new items should add to the top of the list. Of course if I want to add on in the middle that wouldn't help.

The old drag-to-reorder worked fine. Editable order numbers, a-la-netflix queue, would work as well. Of course our milestones are al standard dot separated versions. They could be auto-sorted.

Are we alone in this pain? What do others think the best solution is?

Hi Mont,

I can understand your frustration and in some ways it was a step backwards with the new sorting capabilities but it was done in a consistent manner between all project properties (status, milestones, priority etc) . Also the old sorting component had some fundamental problems but I would like to see us spruce up sorting with some sort of jqeury plugin.

First, I apologize if my post was a bit harsh. I had just clicked the up arrow 50 times and was only half way there.

I understand the desire to use the same mechanism consistnly throughout the app. I also don't know how many people have as many milestones as we do, perhaps we are the exception.

At this point I've had to edit the sort order in the DB to work around this. I started at 100 with breaks where we have major branches. Each milestone I add I'll have to go into the DB and edit the sort order to set its value.

For us I think the ideal solution would be numeric-aware sorting. Then we would not have to think about sorting, not manual adjustments would be necessary.
